In March 2020, the School of Visual Arts made the decision to suspend classes for two weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This marked the beginning of Song Lu's quarantine experience, where she found herself confined to her home and struggling with feelings of anxiety and sadness. Seeking solace, she turned her focus towards the microscopic world.

During this time, Song wrote three poignant poems that utilized metaphors to explore her thoughts on life, death, rebirth, society, and the environment that surrounds us. These works serve as a reflection on the profound impact that the pandemic had on her life and the world at large. Through her words, Song invites us to consider our own relationships with the natural world and to contemplate the interconnectedness of all things.
